A Change in Scenery

Yesterday was a great day, today not so much. I have a lot going on at home with a pre-teen boy who wants to sleep all day and not get up for school and a sassy seven year old daughter who “knows” everything. My mornings can be quite stressful and today was no exception.

I got up early and did my 20 minutes of meditation as well as my morning pages and daily affirmation. And then, it all went downhill! Being a mom is never easy, being a monprenuer is even harder. As my son said this morning “ït’s not like you have a job to go to” and he’s right. I may not have a job to go to but I most certainly have a job TO DO. It’s not just about making soaps and lotions, it’s about giving people a choice to live a healthy lifestyle, to feel comfortable in their skin AND to smell AMAZING all day long!

Needless to say, I needed a bit of change in my morning routine today…so I took my office outside! I’m sitting on my back porch, sipping some coffee and writing this to all of my fellow mommies out there. Today I challenge you all to take a step back, close your eyes and change either your perception or scenery. Take a five minute break and get outdoors, believe me you’ll feel better!

How do you deal with the stresses life throws at you?

Spring Brings New Beginnings

This is just one of the many places I got to see and hang out at during my kids two week spring break! That’s right, TWO WEEKS! We went up to my parents in Spokane, WA and got to stay on their 10 acre property while my kids hung out with their cousins! We picked out baby chicks…I named this pretty little girl Jennifer Jr😉

We got to go to the snow, my son learned how to ride a dirt bike, my daughter learned how to drive a snowmobile and I got to hang out with my brother! Not bad for a couple of weeks off. During my time away from the hustle and bustle of not only work but California in general, I had a lot of time to think (who couldn’t when you’re surrounded by wilderness!) about love, life, family and business. I really appreciated the time I was able to spend with my family and know that I need to do it more often!

One of the biggest things I’ve been wanting to do and just have done it yet for no “real reason” and that’s to start teaching what I know. I’ve been waiting on finding a place, funding a place and the equipment that’s necessary to teach instead of just doing it. We’re already closing in on the first quarter of the year and I haven’t hit my goals of where I wanted to be. So…instead of dwelling on what I should have done, I’m leaping on what needs to be done! I am launching a series of videos starting in April that will teach YOU how to make bath & body products! I’m starting with Soaping 101 and will be slowly adding courses. They may be weekly or monthly depending on how long it actually takes me to upload everything and they won’t be very pretty at first! I’ve been avoiding the whole video thing for a long time, mostly because I just don’t want to be on the screen BUT what exactly do I have to lose???

If you are interested in a DIY class I’d love to know what you want to learn!

On the Curing Rack

Want to see what soaps are coming up in April? Take a look below…

I was getting a little board with plain old Lavender so I thought I would change things up a bit! I added some Rosewood & Palma Rosa essential oils to the lavender as well as red rose petals along with lavender buds to top off this amazing soap! I think this one will be a hit for spring!

Next up…Nag Champa! Yes, I know this is NOT an essential oil but it’s one of my favorite scents!

Last but not least, let’s not forget Luscious Lemon! Once again I used Annatto Seed Powder for my colorant, it also adds a hint of exfoliation. On top I used fresh lemon zest and dried lemon peel which is also mixed into the soap. This smells divine and sold out very quickly so it will now be on our Common Scents list instead of the Rotation Tap.

I know, I know, where’s the scratch & sniff button!

Roses are Red Violets are Blue

This amazing combination of citrus, fruits and florals will definitely get you in the mood for a tropical vacation! In a base of Organic Cain Alcohol, Mandarin will sweep you off your feet with it’s sweet citrus scent while the coconut will make you wish you were sipping Piña Coladas by the pool! Hints of Rose makes this a perfect balance of tropical fruits just like warm summer breeze!

You can order the Scent of the month here or sign up for the monthly auto-ship which includes a 15ml bottle of perfume and a matching 2oz bottle of lotion in the same scent!

What’s your favorite scent?

Refresh and Renew

Well…it’s here, Welcome to March! Spring is just around the corner so don’t forget to “Spring Forward” this coming Sunday!

I always feel like spring is the time for new beginnings, rituals and a time to reflect on the last couple of months. For those of you that made a New Year Resolution, this is the perfect time to review what that resolution was and make any changes necessary.

For me, I did not do a resolution this year, I made a couple of vision boards instead! As a creative entrepreneur I’m much more of a visual person and to be able to look at a physical board I created just made more sense.

Every Sunday night I have made it my new ritual to do something just for me to prepare for the week ahead. Most of the times it includes a long hot bath with some bath salts, candles and a good book!

What do you do to unwind from the weekend and get yourself back into work mode for the coming week?
